The Leo Baeck Institute New York/Berlin (LBI), founded in 1955, promotes the study of the history and culture of German-speaking Jews and has extensive library, archival, and art collections. For Yerusha, the Institute surveyed archival holdings related to the Jewish history of southern Bukovina and Transylvania. In addition to state archives, LBI was the first to explore, survey and describe many records held by existing Jewish communities.
