Established in 1939 in Jerusalem, the Central Archives for the History of the Jewish People (CAHJP) is part of the National Library of Israel. It holds one of the most extensive and comprehensive collections of Jewish community materials in the world. It also contains an immense array of Jewish organisational records and private papers. The institution carries out surveys in Jewish and non-Jewish archives throughout the world, and copies substantial collections of documents. For Yerusha, CAHJP has described Jewish and Jewish-related records across the Baltic States and conducted a groundbreaking survey of Jewish collections in Georgia.
